Project Quilting 10,.2: Red, White & Blue

I was very excited for this week's challenge.  RWB is one of my most favorite combinations and Iove the patriotic reminder that comes with it.
When I was younger, one of my favorite weekend activities was going to the Smithsonian.  My favorite exhibit was the original Star-Spangled Banner.

This is how I remember it growing up.  I would remain behind a screen except for certain times of day when they'd raise it while playing the national anthem.  I remember that reverent feeling--everyone and everything inside the rotunda would stop for a few minutes and everyone would take in the majesty of this huge flag which inspired our national anthem.

I've had this project pinned since I saw it on Moda's blog, and I figure this is the perfect chance to go at it.  Again this week I drew from my scrap bins--exclusively.  Loving being able to whittle away at those stacks and make something I love.

  2. Heather, I love your pillow and I too love Americana themed projects. I also love the feeling of making something beautiful from my stash or scraps.

I am pretty patriotic. I was a Girl's State Girl, and those patriotic feelings I gained there have never left me.
