Keeping Motivated

I spent this past weekend cutting out 42 bear claws for my revised Bear Tracks quilt.  I've had the matched-up stacks on my desk and I'm so excited about this quilt!

A Bit of a Rough Start ...

This year has been a bit slow for me.  I'm still finishing the quilting on my One Word mini.  It's coming along and I love the direction it's taken; I just need to make more time to take the steps to finish it up.

January Stash Bee Block

I've officially started another year with Stash Bee.  I was going to take this year off, but gave in at the last minute; I just can't imagine not being a part of this sewing community!  This year I'm back in Hive 1 where I started and this is the block I made for Alison this month

September Stash Bee

I got right on these blocks this month because I want to focus on quilting my Handsome quilt for Rhett.  I'm kind of glad that I did, because I had nothing but trouble with the sizing on my first attempt.

Calming August Stash Bee Block

This month Carla is our queen bee and asked for these low-volume blocks with pinwheels randomly placed throughout.  I had quite a time pulling out all different prints.  There's a lot of sand in there =)

July Stash Bee Blocks

I made these blocks a couple of years ago for Stash Bee, so I was excited to revisit these birds.  Mary asked for some personalization so it was a little different this time around.  I actually made 2 blocks again because I realized my first one didn't meet her request for bright, large scale printed wings.  So, without further ado ...

June Stash Bee Blocks--Flowering Snowballs

I thought I posted these blocks a few days ago, but I guess I'm just now finding that moment to post them ...  My mom literally nagged me to finish these when she was here last week =)

May Stash Bee Blocks

This month our queen bee asked for these fun Circles Squared Blocks.  They are pieced together like a 9-patch and I used it them as a leaders-and enders while working on some of my Farm Girl blocks (more on that another time ...)

March ALOYF Finish!

I finally got to the point today where I could take some pictures.  It's the second day of Spring Break here and I'm seriously underwhelmed.  It's dark and rainy and I wanted to be outside prepping the gardens and taking a couple of hikes this week ...

Stash Bee Blocks--Sister's Choice

Melissa asked us for Sister's Choice blocks.  I really enjoyed this block!  I'm having twinges of regret that I have to send them off.  I guess I'll just have to add this to my someday list ...

Stash Bee Blocks

Here are the 2 blocks I finished for Cyndi this month.  Lining up the strips with each cut was a bit gnarly.  I don't do a lot of improv, so this was a bit of a stretch for me, but it came together pretty quickly.   Sam was watching me at one point and about had a cow when she saw me slice with my rotary cutter and no ruler =)

Stash Bee Hive #7--January Tutorial--Hunter's Star

Hello, Hive #7!
I'm excited to get to know you guys this year.  You had a quick overview of me in my intro here a couple of months ago.  You can also read my About Me page on my blog if you still want to know more.  I've spent the last couple of months preparing for and taking my teacher licensure tests--in fact, my last three are tomorrow (Jan 2.)

The Year of the Bee

This year I participated in 2 bees for myself and one with Sarah.  I really like the satisfaction of finishing these mini projects each month.  Even when I don't churn out a full-sized anything, I still feel accomplished =)

Stash Bee, Round 2
This year there were so many varied blocks!  I got my Random Bamboo blocks put together in March, but am just getting around to having it quilted.  It will be the first time I send something out to be long-arm quilted.  I'm really excited =)

A Little Random ... Bamboo

For those of you who can remember back all the way to January =) ... These were the quilt blocks that I asked for from my Stash Bee Hive #2 mates (here is that tutorial and here was the preview of all the blocks I received.)

Buzzy as a Bee

This is my vacation stash.  I visited 4 or 5 quilt stores along the way and came home with some fun new fabrics (and other quilty goodies) to play with.  Some of these are mine, some for swaps and other extras.  After playing with these for a little bit, I spent this morning finishing up some bee projects that accumulated while on vacation.  I also figured I should work ahead just a little in anticipation of sewing along with Sewvivor over the next few weeks.

March Stash Bee Blocks

I finished my first block right at the beginning of the month, but because it was realitvely small, I wanted to do two, plus I'm just plain bad about mailing anything.  So it sat, and it sat ...  But I was so UNinspired for some reason.  It wasn't the block's fault--it's one of my faves and I hope to make a whole quilt of them someday.  It wasn't the colors that were requested--bright, colorful, happy colors.
