Project Quilting--8 is great!

I've been following along with project quilting for 2 or 3 years now, but I always had other things going on and was never really able to jump in.  This time, however, the theme, was just up my alley and I felt like I could squeeze in a little something.

Melissa asked us for Sister's Choice blocks.  I really enjoyed this block!  I'm having twinges of regret that I have to send them off.  I guess I'll just have to add this to my someday list ...

Stash Bee Hive #7--January Tutorial--Hunter's Star

Hello, Hive #7!
I'm excited to get to know you guys this year.  You had a quick overview of me in my intro here a couple of months ago.  You can also read my About Me page on my blog if you still want to know more.  I've spent the last couple of months preparing for and taking my teacher licensure tests--in fact, my last three are tomorrow (Jan 2.)

Buzzy as a Bee

This is my vacation stash.  I visited 4 or 5 quilt stores along the way and came home with some fun new fabrics (and other quilty goodies) to play with.  Some of these are mine, some for swaps and other extras.  After playing with these for a little bit, I spent this morning finishing up some bee projects that accumulated while on vacation.  I also figured I should work ahead just a little in anticipation of sewing along with Sewvivor over the next few weeks.

Modern Traditional Challenge

I stumbled across this challenge that was posted at the beginning of this month.  When I saw the theme, I had a couple of ideas about what I wanted to do.  I went to my LQS in search of the right fabrics and fell in love with Dear Stella's Spring Street.  I've been using Sketch for quite a while now as accents in my bee blocks and round robins.  I really like the feel of solid movement that the screen-like tone-on-tone lines create.  A lot of the time they have the same overall feel as quilters linen.

This-is-so-Cool: Wonky Blocks

          

These are my two quilt blocks for Stash Bee this month. I've seen these done on other sites and thought, those are cool, but too much effort ...  THIS is one of the big reasons I wanted to do the Bee thing:  it forces me to do what I otherwise put off as being too difficult, too time-intensive, too fussy, too elaborate ... You get the picture :)  There are lots of other reasons, but that's a biggie.  Both months, so far, have been blocks I've looked at and put on my far-off future to-do list.  Now I can check them off.  And you know what else?  They were FUN to play with.
