Lesson Learned

Saturday evening Sarah talked me into a much-needed haircut.  For years now I've always given the same request:  trim with long layers.  Up until two days ago, I always got the haircut I wanted ...

Well, today my hair is 3 inches shorter and the layers are, well, extreme.  Oh well ...  Next time I'll be more specific about what I want done.  I guess I'll learn to live with it for now.

My January

Nicholas & Wheelie Pete making an alcohol stove
Here's a quick look-back at this month.  Well, maybe not so quick.  This final week is a short week--the end of the semester is Wednesday and the kidlets don't have school on Thursday or Friday ...

'Twas the Night ...

Twas the Night

I've done several blog hops over the last couple of years with Sew We Quilt!  This is the first one I've done that is more of a swap ... so fun!  Thanks once again to Madam Samm and Marlene!  Marlene is amazing and I know she spent hours (and hours) getting everything just right. (The complete schedule is here.)

There were a couple of rules to keep in mind this time around ...
1.  We were to make small gifts to be made in hours, not days.
2.  We had to mail it all off by Oct. 31 ... yes, Halloween =)

Another Busy Week ...

This past week was the first week all year when I've had a truly busy subbing schedule.  Usually I get 4 or 5 days each month; this week I got to work all 5 days and be in 4 different classrooms at 3 different schools.  I really did enjoy it, though.  Added to that, Sam started driver's ed 2 nights each week for the next 8 weeks.  I literally got home from school, threw dinner together, then ran back out to various activities 3 of my 5 evenings.  Friday evening when I tried to slow down a little and take some time for me, things got a bit hairy, but I forced myself to enjoy an hour outside the house.
