I got my act together this week and was able to throw together these little beauties for the "brighter the better" challenge over at Persimmon Dreams. I've been saving selvages since I really started quilting about 5 years ago, and my 2 baskets are overflowing. The perfect starting point ...
I decided to use some of these fun colors to make some bright, colorful mug rugs for myself. I use them regularly at work; I've been trying to make my lunch more often and I like using my mug rugs to lift my spirits.
I had just started pulling out some fun selvages when I found the stack of selvages from my NewBee blocks a couple of years ago. I still LOVE these!
The other two are miscellany from some of my favorite projects: bee blocks, Sarah's ruffle quilt, Nicholas's (in-process) trek quilt, my favorite bag, Vintage Picnic blocks ... The batting, binding and backings are also scraps.
These 3 beauties are about 7"x10" each. I used this tutorial with a size modification. It was so much fun! I live and quilt in the beautiful Willamette Valley (Oregon.)
Linked up here as #55!
Aren't scrap projects so very satisfying? I especially love the one with the pale green spotty binding.
