May ALOYF Goal

It has been a very long time since I've sewn anything with a pattern ...

When Samantha saw this pattern, she knew she wanted this dress for graduation.  She even waited for it to go on sale at JoAnn's.

When we picked up the pattern over Spring Break, *I* also found this beautiful batik.  She usually picks out fabrics, so I'm super happy to be able to say I found this one for her.  Of course, they didn't have enough, so we ended up driving 50 miles to get the fabric to avoid paying shipping.  That turned out OK, though because I found 2 new quilt stores on that trip =)

Samantha has always liked batiks.  She gravitates to that section of any fabric store.  This one is in her school colors and the pattern is simply bold, which fits her style.

Wish me luck ... I'm going to need it.

  1. Sounds like shipping might have ended up cheaper than all the petrol and the extra shopping trip! I miss dressmaking. Have fun. I am sure it will beautiful.

  3. She has good taste! I too love Batiks! So, do you live out in the country like I do? I have to drive over 50 miles to visit a variety of quilt shops. There is a local one 30 min. away but sometimes we need a little more to choose from. I do a lot of shopping online but it just does not replace picking out the fabric myself!
