Blogger's Quilt Festival--Random Bamboo

It's time for the Blogger's Quilt Festival again!  I love this twice a year and Amy is such an amazing host.
I've learned that I'm never going to be a really prolific quilter, but I can use this as a goal to at least finish one quilt every 6 months or so ...

This post also doubles as an unveiling for my Stash Bee quilt from last year.  This was a collaborative effort and Hive #2 (2014) was amazing! Row 1 (l to r): Me, Me, Mandy, Abigail; Row 2: Me, Dana, Andrea, Me; Row 3: Jessamie, Dana, Vickie, Lisa; Row 4: Me, Megan, Jansen, Tiffany.

Every step of the way I love this quilt more and more.  The longarm quilting was done by another bee mate, Heather Seminelli of QA Creations.  She is amazing!  I think we e-mailed back and forth for four or five months before I finally got it off to her.  She had a really fast turn-around time, too!

I wanted to stay somewhat true to the name Samantha gave this block, so I finally settled on this thin-leaf panto, rather than "true" bamboo. I really like the way the leaves create the feel and movement of a bamboo forest while letting the scrappy "canes" stand on their own.

Quilt Stats:
Named by my daughter, Samantha
Pieced by the wonderful ladies in Hive #2, 2014 Stash Bee, January, Top pieced March 2014
Finished size:  just under 60" square
Quilting: QA Creations, So Fine thread in light green
Backing: Lizzie House Pearl Bracelets in Emerald
Binding:  Scrappy, machine finished

  2. This is a great bee quilt! It would be awesome to see a full flat front view of it. Love all of the colourful scraps set on the solid backgrounds.
