PQ 10.5–Sweet Dreams

This weeks challenge was a fun one!  I love words and I’m always getting punny jokes from Sarah. When Moda first released their Spell It! alphabet, I downloaded it all and played with ideas. Then when Lori Holt published Spelling Bee, that was even better with upper and lowercase possibilities.

One idea I’ve had is based on the word bubble mini in Spelling Bee. I knew I wanted to make one to hang over my bed—with a few modifications.  The abecedarius challenge was the perfect opportunity to make this happen!

I present to you “Sweet Dreams”. It finishes quite a bit larger than I thought at 45” x 32-1/2”. By Wednesday Sarah was claiming this for her room, saying that it just speaks to her on so many levels. 😂 That gave me the inspiration for quilting the simple wavy lines; it reminds me of water and swimming.  I really like that Michael Miller newspaper print I found for the backing.

It is quilted with a silver-gray Aurifil (2600).  For the first time I used a different top and bobbin threads on the binding so it didn't show up on the front or back.

  1. So clever! When I first saw the photo, I thought "that would be fun to hang over a bed." And I kept reading and you DID! I'd giggle every night as I climbed into bed if this was in my room!
