Summer Solstice Start

I was a little late to post my cutting ... I was finishing  up another quilt top =)

Anyway, I'm following along at Happy Quilting.  I've followed along with Melissa before, and I love her star patterns!  This time I decided to go super scrappy, mostly in response to my budget.

I'm hoping to build a stash of baby quilts.  Right now I have one finished for a girl, one finished for a boy and a third neutral top.  I'm hoping this will be another neutral top.

I decided on Kona Khaki as my background fabric--something new--and pulled entirely from my 3-1/2 inch square and fat quarter stashes for all the prints. (I misread and cut many more than I actually needed for the flying geese ...)

This week we're sewing the flying geese units and this was super quick.  I've used her no-waste method before and, once marked, I can fly through a pile ala chain stitching.  I had 8 sets of these units to whip up and I grouped them in similar color sets.  I'm getting excited for the rest of the units!

Aren't they purty?  There's a little bit of everything and quite a few memories in there.

I keep hoping to build a stash of baby quilts too, but people keep having babies, and so they quickly disappear to a new home.
