November ALOYF Finish

Yay! This in just under the wire ...

I've been sewing like crazy to get all these little things done.  Whew!  Now I'm feeling almost ready for next weekend ...

1.  Covered Journals - I strip pieced these and added pockets to the inside flaps using this tutorial and this other tutorial.  I regularly use notebooks and journals to make endless lists, but these also work for my kids who use composition books in school.

2.  Coffee Koozies - I used the pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop.  I really had fun with these.  I keep one in my desk drawer and a couple in the door pockets in my car for when I need them.

3.  Mini Treat Bags - I saw this tutorial back in September and knew I wanted to do these.  I think they turned out great!  They'd be great filled with candy, a gift card or even a small stuffed animal.

4.  These aren't sewn, but I love Crocheted Washcloth/Dishcloths.  They whip up easily in an evening and last forever.  I've always used them in my kitchen, but recently discovered they make luxurious washcloths for the bathroom, too.  And if they don't sell, I'll be commandeering them for myself.  (I think I'll go make a few more ...)

5.  Ear-Bud Pouches - When I first saw these, I immediately thought they looked like the balls on a Christmas Tree so I had to try them.  They were originally designed to hold ear-buds, but they would also make a great little change purse and can also hold a couple small seasonal candies.

6.  Gift Card Wallet - I've made these before when my kids give gift cards for a birthday party.  They're a great way to use up scraps and fun to personalize.  They can also hold business cards and several punch cards.

7. & 8.  Wrapped Chocolates - I used printable files from Colette.  I love her designs and use lots of her different printables (including her great planner.)  All I had to do was get the Craft Fair license and start printing.  These aren't actually done yet because I gave these to the kidlets, but they're well under way ...

I've been collecting red baskets and bowls to use for our displays and my mom even sent out some of her painted projects to support the cause.  These little finishes (that really do make one BIG finish) have not only helped to get me excited for the bazaar, but also get into the Christmas spirit.

  1. Great finishes! Do you have a pattern for the washcloths? I think I'd like to try them. Thanks!

  3. Hello Heather! I am in Hive 7 and look forward to getting to know you in 2015. I wanted to comment on how beautiful and modest your daughter looks in her prom dress. As I scrolled down the page I realized why - I am LDS too.

    Happy sewing!
