A Sister Thing ... Big Reveal

This post is really 2 parts ... What I received and what I sent. This is the second time I've participated in this swap, and I've love both times.  Many thanks to Michele over at Quilts from My Crayon Box for hosting this.  I love following new blogs and meeting new people this way!

Julianne was my wonderful secret sister this summer and she is amazing!

I was so blown away, especially since I've been super bad about posting this summer.  Julianne over at Quilting with Calicos put together this amazing package.  I can't wait to use the sweet charms she sent to make one of the projects in that book!  The pattern is also super cute.  It's hard to tell from the packaging, but the block is a bit like a wonky tic-tac-toe pattern.  Those pre-printed quilt labels and garden notecards are super cute, too.  Can't wait to put them to use!

But the pièce de résistance is this ...

This mini table quilt is so beautiful!  The fall theme is perfect!  The leaves and red fabric have strong hints of purple, which, of course, I LOVE!  The gold fabric has metallic hi-lights that shimmer and add to the warmth of the piece.  Thanks so much Julianne!

I've been meaning to post the small package I sent to my sister Heidi over at Red Letter Quilts.  She does so many cute projects and is a more advanced quilter than I am, so I was a little intimidated =)  I enjoyed looking for little gifts while I was on vacation and then coming home and sewing a little for her.  I decided to stick to the red theme and made her a couple of my own favorites.

I love mug rugs.  I take them to school in my lunches when I sub and use them at home regularly.  The mini swoon was an orphan block that I thought went perfectly with her blog theme, so I started there.  I also love to drink out of mason jars (fewer trips for refills), so I made a cute cozy using this tutorial.  (I have a matching one for myself!)

I got the tape measure bracelet, needle catcher, pattern and candy jar at various places while on vacation this summer.  I love to munch while I sew, but don't want chocolate near my projects, so I usually have stash of either Pez or Starbursts nearby; now Heidi can, too =)
